What we check, and when

Every vessel that leaves our yard has been through the same sequence, whether it is new or certified used.

1. Stamp verification. The ASME or DOT stamp is read and recorded against the unit. A tank with an illegible, absent or expired stamp is not sold as certified — it is scrapped or sold explicitly as scrap.
2. Pressure test. Used vessels are pressure tested before listing. The test record is filed against the unit and travels with it.
3. Valve and fitting inspection. Relief valve, service valve, fill valve, gauge and any vapour or liquid withdrawal fittings are checked and replaced where they do not pass.
4. Coating and corrosion. Above-ground vessels are inspected for coating integrity. Underground vessels are supplied coated, with a riser and a magnesium anode bag for cathodic protection.
5. Data plate photograph. Photographed at dispatch so what you receive is provably the unit that was inspected.

Traceability

Each unit is tracked from intake through inspection, storage and dispatch. When you call about a tank you bought eighteen months ago, we can pull its record: what it was, what was tested, what was replaced, and which carrier moved it.

What certified used does and does not mean

It means a live stamp, a passed pressure test, and documentation. It does not mean cosmetically new — used tanks have scuffs, and we photograph them rather than shoot around them. Used vessels cannot be returned once filled, which is exactly why we are selective about which ones we list.

If something is wrong

Call +1 210 465 3807 before the tank is filled or installed. A documented fault on a vessel we supplied is our problem to fix, and it is far easier to fix at the point of delivery than after commissioning.
